'This one is too thick', 'This one is too drying', 'This one has horrible coverage'. That's what you here from me when ever i try out a new concealer...as you can guess, I'm pretty picky about my concealers. So picky in fact, I've never found one that i 100% loved, that is, until now.
The Christian Dior Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer (what a mouth full!) is the first concealer that I've found that covers blemishes and imperfections and both hydrates and is light enough for my under eye area, all without causing any unsightly creasing.
The Claim...according to the Sephora website
What it is:A concealer that provides the ultimate coverage by hiding skin imperfections and creating a flawless canvas.
What it does:Smooth and velvety, this intensively moisturizing concealer has unique treatment properties to help minimize the appearance of dark circles and puffiness.
What else you need to know:Advancing mineral makeup technology, this formula blends 100% natural, mineral pigments with Dior's exclusive active mineralized water for flawless, glowing skin that actually improves over time.
Coverage
The pigmentation on this concealer is pretty good. It's pigmented enough that it covers redness and blemishes and under eye circles without looking cakey. It honestly looks like a second layer of skin. It is formulated specifically for under eye circles, so because of the consistency it is a little lighter. It doesn't completely cover redness, it tones it down a lot and makes redness unnoticeable, especially around the nose, but it doesn't completely cover pimples. I also have really bright blue veins under one of my eyes, which isn't noticeable unless i point it out, but because of the light consistency it only mutes the blue, it doesn't completely cover it. I feel like the only kind of concealer that would completely cover pimples and bright blue/purple veins would be a thicker concealer, but i don't like those because they tend to be really drying for me. Point is, this is a medium-full coverage concealer. un blended, than blended |
Consistency/Texture
Like i said above, the consistency of this concealer is very light and creamy. It contains mineralized water and is very hydrating, so you do not have to worry about it drying your delicate eye area. It blends extremely well, so you don't need a lot of product to cover imperfections. There is absolutely no creasing with this product. This feels so luxurious on your skin and looks completely natural.
Scent
Although it doesn't say on any website that I've seen, I'm pretty sure that this isn't formulated with any artificial fragrances. It doesn't appear to have any scent, so I would recommend this for those with really sensitive noses.
Why my hand appears to be orange..i don't know. |
Packaging/Size
The packaging is a sleek 'nude' colored tube with a silver cap with the initials 'CD' (Christian Dior) engraved on the top of the cap. The lettering on the tube is silver. It's a squeeze tube, so you can control exactly how much product you want to come out. It's very sophisticated and understated, like all of the packaging for the DiorSkin collection. This concealer contains10 ml or 0.33 FL. OZ of product. A lot of people complain about the size of this concealer, stating that it's too small for the price tag, $29 US and $30 CND, but you do not need a lot of product to cover your imperfections, so this 'small tube' is going to last you a long time.
Benefits...According to Sephora.com
"Advancing mineral makeup technology, Fresh Glow Powder Makeup blends 100% natural, mineral pigments with Dior's exclusive active mineralized water. Diorskin Nude delivers flawless, glowing skin that actually improves over time. Nude Mineralized Water contains a selection of four major mineral elements, completed by four other active ingredients:
-Magnesium: Promotes the cellular anabolic process and participates in the synthesis of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids.
-Copper: Improves the organization of dermal collagen and boosts anti-free radical action.
-Zinc: Participates in cellular renewal and promotes healing. It also has a defensive action against free radicals.
-Rhodolite: A semi-precious stone, provides manganese. Manganese protects the mitochondria, which produce energy in the cells. It accelerates the synthesis of collagen and carbohydrates present in the dermis. Finally, it acts on the DEJ (Dermal-Epidermal Junction) for better cohesion between the epidermis and dermis". source

It has also been clinically proven that this concealer decreases under eye puffs by 22% after 4 weeks. I haven't noticed any decrease in my under eye puffs, but I will keep you guys updated on my twitter if I notice any decrease in the future.
Color Selection
The Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer comes in 4 shades:
Ivory 001
Beige 002
Honey 003
Mocha 004
Since there is a very limited color selection, it may be hard to find your perfect match. Right now I'm 001 Ivory because the Beige 002 was way too dark for my skin tone, and just looked silly on me. 001 is now becoming a little too light for me because my skin is tanned, but the 002 is still too dark for me. I feel like if i mix 001 with a little bit of 002 I could get my perfect shade. The way i see it, Dior needs to work on their color selection because right now it's pretty poor.
Usage
I use this on both my imperfections and under eye circles. This concealer is specifically formulated for around the eye area to help diminish the look of under eye circles. I find it to be pretty effective for any other imperfections as well. For best results, it's suggested that you apply this directly to imperfections using either a small concealer brush or your fingers. I like to use my fingers to apply it.
Conclusion:
Color selection: 1.5/5
Benefits: 5/5
Packaging: 5/5

Coverage: 3.5/5
Price: 3.5/5

Were the claims accurate? For the most part. It doesn't provide 'ultimate coverage' but the coverage is pretty good. It is very moisturizing, and I have noticed that my dark circles aren't as intense, but I haven't noticed an improvement in my under eye puffiness. Lastly, this does make skin look flawless and glowing and all around very refreshed looking. I love this concealer so much, and i hope that you love it as much as I do!
Leave a comment below telling me what you think, and what your favorite concealer is? Oh, and any digital camera suggestions? I lost the charger for my camera a while ago, and clearly my iphone 4 isn't really working out anymore. So, I'm looking for a really good quality camera. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
