Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express Mascara Review!

Hey everyone,
I don't usually buy full size mascaras, as I much prefer to buy sample sizes, which I know i'll actually use up.  But once I heard Maybelline's claim to have made a mascara which uses 40% less hard wax than other mascaras and with a gel-mousse formula leading to softer-to-the-touch lashes, I knew I had to try the Maybelline Mega Plush.

The patented Flexor brush is kind of shaped like a football and has more traditional nylon bristles.
I'm not a big fan of the Flexor brush. It doesn't necessarily flex unless you push against the wand with your finger.  It gives kind of a springy feeling during application though, which is really frustrating for me.  With this kind of brush, I feel like I don't have as much control as I would with a more stiff brush wand.  I typically like to really push the wand into my lashes as I roll my brush upward to get all my lashes evenly coated and for maximum volume; but I can't do that with this brush because when I try to it only causes the brush to bend.

As for the formulation, I really like it.  I feel like it works better as a lengthening mascara as opposed to a volumizing mascara.  I found that Mega Plush didn't really live up to its claim to be a volumizing mascara at all which was a disappointment since great volumizing properties are generally what I look for in a mascara.  It does make my lashes look lengthened, separated and defined though, which is great. What did  impress me was the gel-mousse formulation!  It left my lashes feeling light and not as weighed down as usual and definitely not as brittle feeling.

If you have oily eye lids though, I would not recommend purchasing this mascara.  Many people have complained that this mascara transfers and smudges under the eyes very easily.   I don't have very oily lids, so I haven't experienced that problem, and for me, this has never smudged. If you have oily eye lids and still want to try this mascara, maybe give the waterproof version a try!

Would I say that this is the best mascara ever and you should run out and grab it right now? Well, no.  But if you're looking for something that will lengthen your lashes a considerable amount, make your lashes feel more supple to the touch and you don't have really oily eyelids, give it a whirl.  I really like the formula of this mascara and how it made my lashes feel; however, I'm not a fan of the applicator and it didn't give my lashes the volume that was promised, which was a disappointment.  So, I do like it, and I will continue to use it (I might try using a different brush with it since I like the formulation) but I probably won't repurchase this product.

Have you tried Mega Plush yetWhat did you think of it
