MAC Gingerly Blush: Review and Swatches

Hey everyone!
On my previous trips to MAC, i had never given this blush a second glance as it looked very bland in the pan, and just looked undesirable next to the more appealing-at-first-glance blushes MAC has to offer.  This time around, i decided to take a leap of faith and buy Gingerly, and I am so glad i did!

Gingerly is a very unique sheertone blush.  I like to describe it as a warm brick brown colour as it has tones of red and orange in it.  I think that this is a neutral blush which would compliment all skin tones; however, on really fair skin tones i would recommend using a light hand with it to give the most natural look since it is very pigmented despite being a sheertone blush.  Gingerly really warms up my face in the Winter and adds a healthy glow to my cheeks while looking very natural.

This is a 100% matte blush, so if you prefer sparkly blushes such as NARS Orgasm, i would skip over this blush.  I've applied this using both a MAC 116 and a MAC 188 and i find that it applied beautifully with both and blends like a dream.

Although at first glance Gingerly does not look like anything special, it is truly an amazing blush that gives your cheeks a warm, healthy glow without looking over the top. I would recommend it for all skin tones to anyone looking for a matte, neutral blush shade.

MAC blushes can be purchased online at maccosmetics.com, or at any MAC counter or store.  They cost $20 US and $23 CND for 6 g of product.

I had a lot of difficulties photographing this blush, and after a lot of complaints about how the photographs turned out, I promised I would retake them once I found better lighting.  I finally found a decent spot to photograph this blush, so here the new photos are! (Photos updated 24/02/12)

    1. Like I said, my camera wasn't picking up the colour properly, so it looks a lot browner than it is. Trust me when I say don't judge this blush by how it looks in the pan. It gives a gorgeous glowy natural flush. Definitely go check it out in stores, but if you only like pink blushes you're not going to like Gingerly.

    1. The selection is pretty overwhelming! I like to browse on maccosmetics.com before going in stores so I know what I want when I get there. :)
