Sephora Brand Waterproof Eyeliner in 01 Black review and swatches!

Hey Everyone!
The Sephora Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner is a water proof eyeliner which comes in a wide variety of gorgeous colors and delivers amazing results for a price of $12 US...so cheap for a high end product like this.  Two months ago I picked up the shade ’01 black’ so today I’m going to review it for you.

This eye liner has a very creamy consistency so it glides on quite easily on the eyes.  I use this on my water line, but it can also be used to line the upper lash line.  This liner has really good pigmentation; it shows up as a true tar black on the water line.

When I use this to line my tight line, I do see some transfer half way through the day from my tight line to my water line, but that’s to be expected.   Other than that this liner lasts on my eyes for about 8 hours, so it pretty much lasts all day and it doesn’t smear on me.  I notice with some waterproof products it can be very hard to remove them with proper remover, but it’s very easy to remove the Sephora retractable waterproof eyeliner with eye makeup remover.

A few days after I purchased this, I lost the cap and just twisted it down and left it capless in my everyday makeup bag.  The next day when i went to use it, part of it had dried up and had become unusable so I had to cut a decent sized chunk of it off.  Luckily I found the cap in my bag a few minutes later.  So, be sure to put the cap back on after you're done using this liner because it will quickly dry up if you don't.

As for whether it’s waterproof or not, I tested this out by applying this eyeliner to my water line and tight line.  After waiting an hour I splashed water on my face and eyes.  After I dried my face I looked in the mirror to check my eye liner.  Although the black had faded a little, the eye liner was still there and looked almost perfect.

My favourite part about this eye liner though is the packaging.  The packaging is plastic and the product twists up on one end, but what’s on the other end?  Opposite the actual eye liner is a built-in sharpener and a smudge tip.  Honestly, I think that’s what sold me on this eye liner.  Another interesting thing about this liner is the price.  This eye liner is amazing quality, and retails for $12 US and $16 CND. I personally would expect it to cost much more considering how good it is.

What's your holy grail eye liner?

  2. Ooo the built in sharpener and smudge tip might have me sold as well. I think I need to try this. I've been using a gel eyeliner for a while now and I'm on the hunt for something else, so this might be it! Thanks for the review!
