Sephora Makeup Studio Blockbuster review and swatches!

Hey everyone!
I was planning on saving this post for February, but due to popular demand, this will be my last post until February.  As mentioned in a previous post, i purchased the Sephora brand makeup studio blockbuster palette for my sister for Christmas.  Well, she is in LOVE with it, as in, she's been using it every day and loves everything about it.  So today, i'll be swatching the entire palette for you guys!  There are 53 pictures so obviously this is going to one of my longer posts,  So let's just get right into it.

Here is the palette compared to Urban Decay's Naked palette.   You can see here that the Naked palette stands taller than then blockbuster palette, which shows just how compact this palette is!

The palette opens up to reveal a beautiful selection of blushes, eyeliners, bronzers, eye shadows and lip glosses.
The first blush is a bronzey rose color, the second is a fresh pink, the third is a sparkly peach color whcih actually reminds me a little of NARS Deep Throat.  The first 2 blushes are matte, and the pigmentation on these blushes is very good.  I'm not a big fan of the bronzer though.  It is a little too shimmery and orange toned for my taste.
The eye liners in this palette!  The pencil liners are a matte chocolate brown and black.  The pigmentation is actually very good, surprisingly.  My sister uses the brown one every day!  I'm not a big fan of the cream eye liners though.  The first four are not very pigmented, and the sixth one doesn't apply evenly.  the fifth bronzey shade is gorgeous though!

Now for the eye shadows!  There is a large selection of eye shadow colours in this palette so it's really  handy for creating a wide range of different eye shadow looks.  I'm not going to go through and describe every single eye shadow colour, but there is a good range of matte, frosty, shimmery, and super glittery colours.  A lot of them were really chalky or didn't have very good pigmentation, especially the matte colours.

Row 1:  *I was not impressed by this row at all, the pigmentation was awful!  You can't even see the fifth colour*

Row 6: *I love how obnoxiously bright that fourth yellow is!*

 Lip gloss swatch time!
a lot of these had AMAZING pigmentation, i was very impressed!  I swatched all of them on a white sheet of paper so you could see their true colours.  They're organized in the same order as they are on the palette.  The sixth row (the yellow's) didn't impress me at all because all of them look really cool and vivid in the palette, but once swatched are completely clear.

A reader asked for me to swatch the darkest colour in the palette, so here it is: it's in the fourth row, second to the bottom!

Okay guys! That is the entire palette swatched and reviewed!  Over all, i really like this palette, I think it's great for beginners or people trying to add to their makeup collection and it's perfect for travel as you can create many different looks with it!

If you want me to come up with any tutorials using this palette be sure to let me know in the comments!

  1. That looks like a really great palette and so much choice for colours!

I need a 'starter' palette for eye makeup as I've never really learned how to apply it properly - this one would be perfect!

And tutorials would be a great idea please!!! :-D

    1. Great! I'll be sure to post a few shorty!
I don't believe this is available anymore, but BH cosmetics and Coastal Scents have tons of really great eye shadow palettes for great prices that I think would be perfect as starter eye shadow palettes!

    1. Thank you, Katie! Don't worry if you didn't get the makeup studio blockbuster this year, because i'm pretty sure Sephora comes out with one every year, don't quote me on that though, haha. Besides, i kind of like the pigmentation of the eye shadows in the BH Cosmetics palettes better, to be honest. Thanks for commenting!
