Covergirl Natureluxe silk foundation

NatureLUXE in 325 Sandstone
There's been a lot of hype about the covergirl nature luxe foundation.  In case you're wondering, this is the new line from covergirl which has Taylor Swift as the spokesperson.
Normally, i don't trust drugstore foundations.  I find that many of them don't give me a good amount of coverage or break me out.  After my horrible experience with Laura Mercier's silk creme foundation (review to come) i was willing to try just about anything.  After hearing MacBarbie07 rave about this particular foundation, i went over to my local Shoppers and picked one up.  I am so glad i did!

According to the cover girl website, this foundation is a lightweight silk foundation which contains a touch of cucumber water and a hint of jojoba and rose hip extracts.  Their "light yet luxurious formula takes heavy weight out of your polished finish".  I was quite skeptical when i heard that this foundation is said to be a high end quality product at a low end cosmetics price.  It retails at $13.99 CND at most drugstores and around $9-10 US.

Breakdown!
 the pros:
- I have combination skin.  It's oily on the forehead and nose, a little dry on some places, and normal on the rest which is why i have a hard time finding foundation good enough to stay matte all day but not irritate and accentuate the dryness.  When i applied this, i used a primer first and my sephora platinum collection foundation brush and it applied like a dream!
-It is a light to medium coverage foundation, so if you're looking for more full coverage, this is not for you.
- the texture is so creamy!  it is not really liquidy, but not super creamy either, so it's that perfect in between consistency which blends well and literally melts into my skin, making it look like a perfect second layer on my skin.
- It dries pretty quickly
- It covers all my flaws but it still looks very natural, and i don't notice it at all throughout the day.
- this actually minimizes my pores, which i thought was amazing since I've never had a foundation that did that.
- I like how this comes in a squeeze tube so it's a lot more sanitary.

Cons:
- Although i love this, i find it difficult to apply without a primer underneath
- it does keep my face more matte throughout the day than any other foundation I've used, but i notice that around the middle of the day my skin starts to get a bit oily again, not as bad, but it's still noticeable, so i do have to blot a little around noon.
- There is 1 Oz of foundation in it, i think for the amount it costs, and for the amount you have to use on a daily basis, there should be more product.
- There is a slight cucumber-y smell to it.  Although i don't mind it, I've heard others complain about it, so if you don't like that artificial cucumber scent, you should skip this foundation.  (Although i noticed it faded in a few minutes).
-SPF 10 is NOT enough to protect your skin from the hot, hot sun, so in the summer, you will have to wear sunscreen underneath the foundation.

Final Verdict

Packaging: 3.5/5
Actual product: 4/5
Price: 4/5

Would i recommend it?  Yes.
Honestly, it is better than many high end foundations that i have tried for a fraction of the cost.  It works well with all skin types, although if you have oily skin i would recommend bringing a blotting powder like UD deslick.  As well, i would recommend using with a primer underneath for ease of application.

NOTE! all photos taken with my iphone4, which is why the true color of 325 isn't showing up nicely, and is why my arm looks all gross and red, i don't know why that happened?  Quality will improve shortly.
** All products were purchased by me, this review is my 100% honest opinion.**

  1. Have you ever tried Revlon Photo Ready and Revlon Colorstay? If so what shades do you wear in those tow foundations?
